Are Dailies actually worth doing if you don't yet have an epic flying mount?
Lol, firstly I would like to make it perfectly clear that I agree with Zej's post saying that epic flying amounts are easily achievable by every player that puts in a little bit of time and effort. For the record, I am far too lazy to put in either, and despite four level 70's and another few toons over 60 I still haven't got an epic flying mount for any of them.
My dilemma is that I think the gold return per hour for doing dailies is just too low to make them worthwhile to do for any reason other than just killing time. Am I doing something wrong? The wrong dailies? The wrong order?
Personally I find that when I actually farm (I do primal mana and leather in Netherstorm) I can easily make around 100 - 150g an hour. If I am feeling lazier still I fish and easily make 80 - 100g an hour. Yet when I do dailies I rarely get above 60g an hour, and that drops down even lower if the competition is too high.
Any thoughts or suggestions, or are my expectations too high?

You want a Reason? How about Rep. All the Dailies give rewards in a Faction (or PVP honour) which makes the Rep Grind a little less tedious.
doing dailies may not seem great, but if you set up a circuit (even with a normal flyer) and do them quickly, you can net a couple of hundred gold plus a stack of rep.
do em, get your flyer, do em faster, be rich.
