Power leveling truths and not-so-truths

As I level my paladin through 24 to her current level of the magic level of 58 I have noticed a few things. While I agree that multiboxing with a 70 is the way to go, I will say that getting to 58 was much harder than I thought it would be. Ill try to explain myself as well as I can.

I went into the power-leveling thinking that I could level up quickly and painlessly as I could run through swarms and swarms of peonic enemies. I thought I could just wade through, and she would gain level after level. I figured that I could follow the power leveling guide, for those of you who do not know the basic structure of that guide I will provide it for you:

Level 20-25: Dead Mines
Level 25-40: Scarlet Monestary
Level 40-45: Zul Farrak
Level 45-50: Blackrock Depths
Level 50-58: Scholomance

Level 58 and on: Outlands and beyond.

Now I have tried to follow that, but a few things I have discovered while leveling

  • Questing in areas you know expertly can be quicker than running instances only if you can complete them quicker than the average instance bracket.
  • Forget about gear and trying to get that specific item, leveling should quickly make it obsolete.
  • Being able to AoE makes for quicker killing in dungeons, having a warrior makes it slightly harder to kill higher dungeons.

Now I will say that leveling is much easier with my warrior and mage helping when she hit that wall after 40. I started doing quests as well and got some pretty hefty experience. I gained four levels from 52-56 by simply being out in ungoro and wpl. Now I think that at my level I could take her out in outlands and simply quest until all I have are dungeon quests and then move on, I think that should work out just fine

I'm experimenting with Powerleveling at the moment, but running a 17 Druid around behind a 40 Mage and 70 Paladin (at different times).

I've noticed that the XP penalty for the 70 is a huge difference in the casual kills, and therefore I should only use the Pally when the Mage can't AoE an Instance.

For example the Mage is better when I'm farming quests to kill X mobs. Get the quest, place the Druid on Follow, run at the mobs with the Mage, AoE, and loot with the Druid.

Deadmines on the other hand is cake with the Paladin, the only slow down is pulling the mobs back to where I have parked the Druid so he can get XP for the kills.

I'd also add an Instance for Alliance players: Stockade for the early 20s. Its located in Stormwind, has a place to vent trash, and can be done in 3 pulls by a high level Paladin.
