I have mentioned before how I first met some friends from Warcraft at the Dropbears BBQ. Well that was not the first time I met a person I know in WOW in RL.
Beld!
Yep that's right. This is going back quite a few years now but I still ROFL when I think about it. For the purpose of this story I will stick with WOW Names, but assume I am actually saying the persons name and not the Characters.
The Jokes on You!
One night after work, I decided to go and visit Beld in person. I knew he was working late, so I figured this was a great opportunity. It was close to 2 hours away so I had plenty of time to plan my entrance. You see, neither one of us knew what each other looked like, but I had the advantage, since I knew he was the boss. I planned and discarded several possibilities. I could pretend to be an irate customer and tell him off. I could play the "Angry Husband" and accuse him of sleeping with my wife. The thoughts just kept on coming and I have to admit I amused myself to no end during that drive. In the end I settled for the simple approach, mainly because I didn't think I could keep a straight face.
Is Beld In?
I arrived at his store and walked in. There was a sales person standing at the counter so I approached him and asked to see Beld. This was my first problem to get around. You see Beld was known to his employee's as a stern but fair boss, but he really didn't like to be disturbed unless it was required. So this sales person replied, "What is your name and I will see if he can see you?". Now this would ruin the surprise, and we can't have that can we. "Beld is a friend of mine and I would like to surprise him". This nearly broke me. The look on this kids face when he said, "Are you sure this will be OK?". I think he saw his brief career coming to an end.
The Gag!
I walk into Beld's office. There he is sitting behind his desk. I walk up to his desk, lean over it slightly and say, "Hello Beld", obviously using his real name here. There was about five seconds of silence. I could almost see his mind ticking over before he responded. "Who the @#$% are you!". I think I made one smart arse comment and he guessed straight away.
The Gag, Part Two.
Now Beld is never happy being to only one to be the brunt of a joke. Luckily for him, he actually had a fellow Guildy working for him. So Beld calls out to Tir. Beld looks furious. Tir walks in meekly. "Tir, you have three guesses who this is or you are Fired!" I swear he actually went pale for a second before he realised it was a joke.
Well that's my tale for the day. I hope you enjoyed it and would love to hear your own experiences. To those poor souls that have to work with Beld, /wave!
The Shammies!
I will be transferring my Shammies over tonight and hopefully getting them to 70 before the end of the weekend. I really do enjoy playing them more than the mage. Currently they are both Elemental but I will collect gear for them to change spec's. Razorslax will have Enhancement gear and Razorshocks will have Resto Gear.
The Pally.
Yep, that's right, as Beld said I have rolled a Pally to level up with his Druid. They are sitting on level 15 at the moment but that should change quickly. I will be using my Mage to Boost them and with the triple XP, they will be mid 40's in not time at all. I am guessing that it will take 2 to 3 runs through Stockades from them to hit 20 and then it's of to SM. This should be a ripper. I have a feeling we will be getting one to two levels per run. My Mage isn't very well geared so there will be no "Three Pull Clears" but it will still be fast.
That's all for now. Have a great weekend!
