Welcome to another instalment of Ask Razorbax. This week our question comes from Noctiluca from Nagrand, yep, my own server! So let's have a look at what Noctiluca has to say. Multi-boxing can vary a great deal depending on your group composition. For example, I started out with two Shammies and a Mage. When I started swapping the characters around and went to Feral Druid, Mage and Resto Druid, it was an entirely different experience. Even with just my Pally and Resto druid there are obstacles to overcome. The key to being successful is taking to time to plan. Work out each characters strengths and weaknesses. Find the best way for everyone to fit together as a single "unit" and your journey will be that much easier. RazorbaxI have been reading your blog for a couple of weeks now, quite enjoy it actually. But anyway, I have decided to roll a Pally to tank for my 5-man (er, -girl... Toons anyway) party. So to hurry things along I created an account via RAF. So, I picked a druid to level along side my Pally but I'm stuck on what would be the best talent tree for said druid. Feral is obviously out (1 melee rule), but I can see where the balance tree would help speed things along but that the Resto tree could possibly give me the same break as I could AoE tank a whole stack more with said Pally. In a nutshell, what do you think?
Balance or Resto?
I have always found that Spec does not really hinder healing before you hit 60. As long as you have healing gear, which really equates to Int and Spirit gear, everything is fine. Even as a feral druid I healed a few instances while levelling. What I would recommend would be your standard Dreamstate Build. The idea here would be to initially fill the Balance Tree, then you can build on the Resto Tree. By the time you start to actually need the Resto talents, you will have them. Other Options?
Well it just so happens that Noctiluca also has a Mage, Lock and Hunter, so Boosting is not out of the question. By hitting up SM from 20 to 40 and then BRD with a few quests to get you to the 50's allowing you to finish of with Scholo or Strat. This is an easy run to level 60. If you choose to go this way, then Full Resto, especially subtlety, is the way to go. You only really need healing for those Oops moments or just to speed things up. Pro's?
As far as speed is concerned, I personally believe boosting as about the same as Questing, but Boosting is easier. There is less running around. As long as you take the time to Loot and use the AH, you will also make a good deal of gold. Once you start in BRD/Scholo/Strat, there will be items you can pickup to replace your crappy gear. Con's?
Once you do finish Boosting you may need to buy new gear from the AH. Thankfully you wont really fit into the "Twink" levels so gear will not be too expensive. I believe I spent 100G and Beld Spent 200G. The other Con here is the whole Learn2Play thing. Since most boxers already have a good deal of experience with other 70's, it can usually be picked up easily enough. Oh and of course it's rather a mute issue, since you have to learn to Multi-Box as well. Learn2Multibox?
