Before the days of Dual Spec's, a Tree Druid is stuck as a healer unless they want to go and respec. Well this got me thinking, remember the Panzakin, well with the recent change to Armor Contribution for Tree Form..... Can a Tree Tank?
Bonus Armor.
Tree Form 200% Armor Contribution
Moonkin Form 370% Armor Contribution
Direbear Form 370% Armor Contribution
Think Hide for another 10%
Talents?
The key to this would be to simply not take the threat reduction talents, but you really need the no pushback talents. I see two ways of doing this. You can go a Feral Hybrid build like this but you are wasting so many points in Feral that you just don’t get any benefit for. I would simply take the Thick Hide from the feral tree and leave it there.
Gear?
PVP Gear would be a must here. You need to get your resilience up as high as you can to reduce the damage you are taking. PVP gear also has the added bonus of being Stamina heavy and generally has high armor values as well.
Tanking Rotation?
Make sure you have thorns up. I would now HoT up with Regrowth, Rejuv and Lifebloom, and then keep those HoT's rolling. You should be able to keep yourself healed and maybe even top up the rest of the group as needed. The big issue here trying to keep all the healing to yourself.
Holy Trinity?
Here is an interesting thought. Since you are the Tank and the Healer, you could fill the rest of the group with DPS's. This could take some getting used to for both the Healer Tank and the DPS's in order to Keep Threat. Ideally you would probably want a hybrid DPS'er that could help out with healing the group on occasion.
Viable or BS?
Who knows. This is all theory and I doubt I would be able to try it any time soon.
Love to hear your thoughts or Lol's....
